Mapquest driving directions or Yahoo or Google Maps?

As you know by this time I like to drive! I have an internal compass that’s glorious and my driving record speaks for itself. My better half on the other hand isn’t the lover of the road that I am.

She has certain locations she is going to daily and if you get outside those she wants her Mapquest maps beside her when she leaves the house.

I amĀ  a man, and we do not ask for Map Search driving directions, just give us the address and our minds hold all of the maps we need ( would not that be good ). The actuality is that in the States today the DOT appears to make it a hobby to modify the roads in our towns solely to make it hard for us, as the driver. We do not have the plans of what they mean to do beforehand Oh wait, we may not have future data but we do have recent Mapquest roadmaps available to us on the internet.

The old days of knowing your destination, pulling out the old atlas or going to the DMV for maps to plot a nice day of travel are long past. Now we as a society are in more of a hurry and have technology available with Map Search that we couldn’t even fathom during the past. Mapquest has even improved from it’s early days in that you can now put in multiple destination addresses and get Mapquest driving directions from one to the other all in one place, which my better half likes to get from store to store as swiftly as possible! Yahoo maps is a sound alternative, it just doesn’t have the ring to it and for some reason she doesn’t regard it when she is going to the PC.

Google maps are getting better on their perspectives from the street. It always is interesting to me to find out how they have pictures of the street or drive from the driver’s viewpoint. By this I mean they literally show you an image of what you would see whether you were standing at the crossing and did a 360 degree turn from about any address in the States. Didn’t see this on Mapquest yet. My favourite part of Mapquest though is how flexible it is for women and men. As I pointed out my other half loves the maps.

By this I mean she likes to have a look at the helicopter view of the roadmaps to “see” what streets or roads she’s going to take on her route. My boy on the other hand likes the written route that tells him actual distances between the turns he’s to take. I’m the family planner of trips and like the Mapquest’s multiple location feature and the traffic perspectives as well as the directory of Rest Stops and exits for the trips I hold so dear. While all the maps from Yahoo Maps, Google Maps, and Map Search have their benefits and disadvantages,

I solidly find myself and my family returning to Mapquest for our mapping wants. Perhaps it’s the fact that Mapquest was the 1st, or perhaps it is they’re the famous, or maybe it just flows off the fingers better for me, but I’m of the opinion that Mapquest is something that is always at my better half’s fingertips when she’s prepared to hit the stores, or my child’s when he’s going out to the favored teenager destinations, and yes even myself when I’m preparing for those journeys to feel the wind in my hair, and see the sights the US has to supply for every one of our driving directions wants.
