Coastal Cottage Holidays

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Seaside holidays are extremely popular which is why every year, millions of tourists head for seaside beaches. Perhaps you like coastal holidays too. seaside holidays are fabulous, but that can be the problem too, because it frequently means overcrowding, queuing, rubbish and noise. Have you ever thought about renting your own private coastal cottage? Many only dream about it, but it is not that difficult or costly to arrange actually.

One point to bear in mind is that, public beaches are well-known and that is why they become too busy. However, private coastal cottages are often out-of-the-way or on private beaches, which makes for a much quieter holiday. Often, local people living only miles from the cottage do not know that they exist. Despite this, most coastal cottages do not cost a lot of money to rent.

These coastal cottages are to be had in many countries around the world. They are certainly very popular in Britain, Europe and the United States. The level of privacy and the amenities available will depend on where you go. A coastal cottage in Wales will give you a very different holiday than a coastal cottage in southern France or Coney Island.

Many coastal cottages are located near a popular vacation destination. Not right in the middle of the venue, but generally a few miles or less outside, so that you can easily drive in or even walk in, if you want some livelier entertainment. Classic coastal cottage leisure activities include swimming, sailing, fishing and walking.

Of course, one of the chief considerations when renting a cottage is the rent itself. Now the funny thing is that is not nearly such a big consideration as you might think it would be. The macro location is more important than the micro location. So, Wales might be cheaper than the south of France, but within Wales itself, there is not a huge variation in price, when you equate like with like. Clearly, a five-bedroomed coastal cottage will be more expensive than a three-bedroomed one.

Another point worth looking into is the ownership of the coastal cottage. Is it owned by a private individual who lives near-by or is it owned by a large business. Is the cottage a genuine, authentic cottage or is it a new, mock cottage building? If it is old, is it connected with anyone famous or a famous event? Knowing these facts can all enhance your enjoyment.

Make certain that you are given some maps or drawings so that you can find the spot easily. Particularly if you are travelling to the cottage in the evening or in the dark. Things often look considerably different at night than in the daylight, and if your chosen cottage is in a quiet spot, there may not be any street lighting

Finally, get hold of some pictures of inside and outside the coastal cottage you finally decide on and then reserve it early, because the best coastal cottages go earlier and earlier every year as this form of vacationing becomes ever more popular.

The Ancient Roots Of Barry, South Wales: Part 3.

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Barry Castle was owned by William de Barri in the twelfth century, but it was raized to the ground by Llewellyn Bren in 1316. Many believe that the Cavaliers rebuilt and that the Roundheads destroyed it again. Whatever is true, it was never rebuilt again after that.

The Normans were hated by the locals and they had to build large mansions to protect themselves from the frequent attacks carried out on them from the people of the valleys and mountains. During the time of Henry III, there were 12 castles within six miles of Barry. In Glamorgan, there were 30 castles and in south Wales as a whole, 150.

Porthkerry and the church lying to its west is said to have taken its name from Ceri, who is said to have founded a port, ie ‘Port Ceri’. People say that Ceri ap Caid, the King of Essyllwg, resided in Porthkerry before the Christian era and that his bard, Corvinor, was the first to have built a ship with sails and a rudder for the race of Cymru. Some believe that Ceri was a nephew or grandson of Caractacus (Caradog) and that he assumed the leadership of the government in South Wales when Caractacus was sent to Rome.

John Wesley later preached from the Porthkerry Church pulpit, and sometimes outside, in 1741, 1742 and 1743. There are two very old churches still in use today St. Cadocs Church in Cadoxton and Merthyr Dyfan Church in Merthyr Dyfan. 150 years ago, Cadoxton was the largest village in the area: eg in 1844 the Parliamentary register contained 25 names: 20 from Cadoxton and five from Barry. The church was dedicated to St. Cadoc, who used to spend Lent on Flat Holm and Barry Island. The village took its name from the church, which was founded in 800 AD.

Merthyr Dyfan Church, which is situated in the north of Barry, was founded in 600 AD and the name means Dyfan The Martyr. There were two saints of this name. The one travelled to Barry to convert the local people to Christianity and the other lived in the sixth century. He was the son of a Welsh chieftain. His sister was also martyred and the town of Merthyr Tydfil is named in her memory.

The Christian faith flourished in the Vale of Glamorgan and in the middle of the Second Century, Llewrwg, Prince of Siluria, became the first king of all time to be baptized into the Christian faith anywhere in the world. He sent to Rome for more preachers and was sent Dyfan and Fagan. The former was martyred near the site of the church and the latter was canonized.

Should You Be Anxious About Anxiety Depression?

Monday, May 31st, 2010

A lot of people who burn the candle at both ends, use up not only all their physical strength, but they also tend to over-extend their mental powers to the point where they plainly need a proper holiday.

A lot of busy people who are unable to fathom the idea of relaxing and taking time of from work, as well as from their worries, have nervous breakdowns, anxiety depression and all sorts of mental illnesses that cause a person’s sanity to go haywire. Luckily, if you are one of those people who is incapable of relaxing and who is always worrying and fussing over things, there are various cures and remedies available for helping you deal with anxiety depression.

Anxiety depression is actually notable for all sorts of irregular behaviour and erratic mood swings in the person suffering from it. This is usually because of specific stress triggers. Furthermore, many people who tend to get quickly worked up over stressful situations are actually prone to having anxiety depression. It is actually a matter of being strong-willed when it comes to facing problematic and stressfull activities. It may be pretty hard to do at first, but trying to be cool, calm and collected in times of extreme pressure is what will prevent your mental health from going into a downward turn.

When it comes to effectively curing yourself of a mental illness, you must keep in mind that you must be honest with oneself and assess what kind of depression or mental illness one suffers from. Go to a reputable psychiatrist to get yourself diagnosed correctly as well to get the right depression treatment. Here are the various kinds of depression:

Manic or Bipolar depression – is characterized by sudden and extreme mood swings where one minute the sufferer is in an high state of euphoria while the next minute (day or week) the sufferer is in a private hell.

Postpartum depression – characterized by prolonged sadness and a feeling of emptiness in a new mother where physical stress during child birth and / or an uncertain sense of responsibility towards the new born baby are some of the possible factors why some new mothers go through this.

Dysthimia – characterized by a slight similarity with bipolar depression, although in this case, it has been proven to be a lot less severe. However, any case of depression should be treated immediately.

Cyclothemia – characterized by a similarity with Manic or Bipolar depression wherein the person suffering from this mental disease may occasionally suffer from severe changes in one’s moods.

Seasonal Affective Disorder – characterized by falling into a rut only in specific seasons (i.e. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall). Studies, however, prove that more people become depressed during the Winter and Fall seasons and lastly, mood swings, wherein a person’s mood may shift from happy to sad to angry in just a short period of time.

However, the sort of depression that has been shown to be most prevalent, is anxiety depression, which is actually characterized by someone being overly anxious about some things. Anxiety is a normal behaviour that actually will help a person cope more with certain stressful activities like a first date or a gruelling exam the following day. Anxiety helps you get ready for dealing with certain “difficult situations”. Therefore, anxiety is actually quite a good, natural emotion.

Anxiety depression however, is quite the opposite. However, it should not be lightly dismissed as a “case of the jitters”. Anxiety depression is in fact an illness that can be caused by the actual DNA of a person, or, in other words, it can be an hereditary illness.

Also, there are actually various types of anxiety depression too, each of which has its own unique characteristics. Take for example Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD. This kind of anxiety depression is a lot more complicated than the average anxiety depression, in spite of it possibly being a day-to-day problem for those who suffer from this kind of anxiety depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder actually makes the individual a lot more paranoid than normal. Anxiety attacks are more frequent, even absurdly so at times.

Suffers can become anxious even when there is no real explanation that calls for them to behave in that manner. Those people suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder often show a lot of characteristics ranging from from lack of sleep, to being unable to relax, becoming tired easily, inability to concentrate and suffering from depression. However, this kind of anxiety depression is still curable though.

Consult a reputable cognitive behavioural therapist who will give you the therapy that you need to help you loosen up. Furthermore, prescribed medicines are a must to help sufferers combat anxiety attacks, help them calm down and help them relax.

About Clinical Depression

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Depression is a mental disorder that is quite often characterized by prolonged periods of sadness and melancholy, experts from the field of psychiatry say.

But just because a person is moping around and generally hating the world around him or her, doesn’t mean that he/she is suffering from depression, but if this kind of behavior, the feeling of emptiness, loss of self-worth and absolutely no hope for happiness just goes on and on, then, that individual is probably, indeed, depressed. Still, there are various types of depression too.

Manic or Bipolar depression – characterized by sudden and extreme changes in mood where one minute he or she is in an elevated state of euphoria while the next minute (day or week) he or she is feeling as if he or she is in a personal hell.

Postpartum depression is characterized by a prolonged sadness and a prolonged feeling of emptiness by a new mother where physical stress during child birth, an uncertain sense of responsibility towards the new born baby are just some of the possible reasons why some new mothers go through this.

Dysthimia is characterized by a slight similarity with depression, although this kind has been proven to be a lot less severe, however. as with any case of depression, it needs to be sorted out immediately.

Cyclothemia – characterized by a slight similarity with Manic or Bipolar depression wherein the individual suffering from this mental illness suffers from severe mood swings.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is characterized by being depressed only during specific seasons (i.e. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall). However, studies prove that more people actually fall ill during the Winter and Fall seasons. Or they could suffer from severe mood swings, wherein a person’s mood may shift from happy to sad to angry in quite a short period of time.

‘Clinical depression’ or ‘major depression’, as some call it, is the actual medical term for depression. In fact, clinical depression is more a disorder than an illness, because it refers to those who suffer from the symptoms that cause depression.

However, despite it being a real disorder, clinical depression can be treated very successfully. Doctors are usually very optimistic that patients suffering from clinical depression will soon be well on their way to regaining good mental health if they are treated as soon as they have been diagnosed. Patients who have sought treatment for clinical depression have proven to be very successful in their hopes, given that 80 percent of those treated have found relief from their illness.

If you are seeking answers to questions related to clinical depression, the depression section of the health centre is highly recommended, as well as books on psychiatry and the Internet, which offers a lot of helpful information, although self treatment is very much disapproved of. Clinical depression may not pose as much of a threat as the other types of mental illness, but it is best to leave it in the hands of the professionals who can safely attend to and cure this disorder.

Clinical depression can be a very debilitating disorder and is so distressing to suffer or witness. Learn more on our website: Treating Depression Grab a totally unique version of this article from the Uber Article Directory

Anger is an issue which is showing great concern among a large number of people nowadays. Maybe, that is because it is an issue which affects all generations, races, communities. In fact, anger has the potential to touch anybody without prejudice.

It is frightening for those who have to live with anger every day. Anger not only concerns the person affected but also all those they come into contact with every day. Because it is such a very important social issue in society today, people are always striving to develop programs to help those affected by anger-related issues.

Reading anger management articles can be beneficial to those affected by anger. There are different types of anger management articles, different in that they target specific groups such as teenagers, adults, men, women, couples, families and other social groups affected by anger.

These articles are meant to be informational; endowing individuals with useful knowledge regarding the problems of dealing with anger, anxiety, frustration and aggression. With guest writers and specialists in the area of anger management, these articles are packed full with interesting details and effective tools that people can take home and use to transform their emotions of anger and frustration into healthy, normal feelings.

Reading an anger management article can provide a person with a chance to gain new knowledge on anger management, which may in turn provide some relief; a chance for people struggling with daily feelings of anger, rage and frustration to find hope and encouragement. This would not only allow a victim or his friends/family to find some hope, but it would also provide them a chance to realize that others also face similar challenges. Sharing personal experiences may help people to own up to their problem and perhaps discover underlying reasons for their anger and frustration.

A huge part of helping an individual work through anger-related issues is support. Assuring the person that they have people to count on, people who will stand by them no matter what may arise, this is extremely relevant to people who are fighting every day to overcome problems with anger. Encouragement is also important. Encouraging the individual to attend support group meetings, talk to a counsellor or read an anger management article may make a huge difference in their treatment.

Low-Cost Wedding Favours

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

If you are holding a large wedding, that is one with many guests, the cost of wedding favours can be quite significant, if you do not set a tight budget. One immediate technique you could use to cut the cost of your wedding favours is to give one to each couple or single, rather than one to everybody who comes. The first decision to take is how much can you afford in total and then divide that by the number of guests in total and then divide it by the number of couples and singles.

This method will make it easier for you to decide what you are going to do: buy for everybody; buy for couples and singles and keep the rest for something else or give to couples and singles but buy more elaborate gifts. If you still find that there is not a lot of money to go around, you will need to look for lower-priced wedding favours. I will give you a few thoughts below to get you going.

Candles can be very effective, inexpensive wedding favours. If you buy in bulk, you can get some really lovely candles at very affordable prices. You could get scented candles, maybe with the same smell as the spray the bride carried. You could also consider buying personalized ribbons to tie attractive bows around the candles and the ribbons could have your names and the wedding date on them.

Candy or chocolate is another kind of inexpensive wedding favour. There are many ways to go down this route. You can have the wrappers of popular candy bars custom-made; you could buy fairly expensive chocolate in bulk and wrap it up in a special way yourself or you could buy small boxes of gourmet chocolate.

Giving packets of flower or vegetable seeds is also an inexpensive way of giving a practical wedding favour. Again, you could give seed packets of the flowers in the bride’s bouquet. The seed packets could be wrapped or boxed with your own special logo, names and wedding date. You could give them in a pot or tray too in order to make it even easier to sow the seeds.

A pen or pen and pencil set is also a fairly economical way of giving wedding favours. These pens can also bear your wedding details such as names and date.

However, I am Welsh and so my favourite wedding favours are love spoons in miniature, say four inches long. Love spoons were given in Wales by a suitor to his beloved for hundreds of years and many love spoon carvers will make mini versions by hand for a small sum of money. These love spoon wedding favours can also be inscribed with the wedding details as they are typically made out of wood.

Another lovely touch is to insert a stamped, self addressed envelope to your wedding favour present, with a short note asking the recipient to get in touch with you soon, so that you do not let too much water go under the bridge.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with Welsh love spoons, and Wales in general, please go to our website at Welsh Products Online, if you are too.

Anger Management Technique

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Dealing with anger is seldom easy, since people are always facing problems and reasons for conflict. However, our anger management technique is very important. We have to deal with price increases, arguments, war, violence, crime, everyday common stupidity and continuous interruptions. There is not one solitary, single person in this sometimes difficult life that has not gotten angry at some time.

Anger is an emotion that we all have to cope with. But anger comes in many forms: the root of anger is hatred, anxiety or frustration as a result of previous deception or disappointment, comes from bad anger management technique. This is true. However, true or not, even in the Bible it says that when Adam and Eve were created on Earth, the first incident was when the Devil, in the form of a snake, lied, deceiving Eve. Once that lie became apparent, the world began suffering many problems, including violence, murder, war, shortages, disease, weather disasters etc.

Ever since that first famous lie, the world has become more and more unpredictable and continues to worsen as the years roll past. We can examine how a lie can instigate anger by looking at an individual case – a person engaged in criminal activities, such as stealing, writing bad checks, and selling prescription medications. Now this person had to deceive, since she felt that her behaviour and actions were her only possible means of getting through life.

So, she started lying to cover up her wrong-doing. As time went by, she became angry and could not deal with life, solely as a result of the way she was behaving, her way of thinking, the way she was conducting her life and her poor anger management technique. The person began to react like anyone else suffering from uncontrolled anger would behave.

This included, putting others down, insulting others, verbally and physically assaulting, threatening, belittling and mocking others. The woman was diagnosed with a mental disorder, Post traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar. She also had health issues, including diabetes. Now if we look at all the aspects of that person’s anger and her anger management technique, we can see, if we search deep enough, that her lying, which caused paranoia, was the root cause of her behavioral problems.

A lot of people have a problem with their anger management technique. Many of the people with post-traumatic stress disorder react angrily because they are reacting to a flashback in memory. That is right! People with post traumatic stress disorder often suppress their emotions and when they are violent or angered, it is often the result of fighting the sources that caused their trauma and not the person in their immediate vicinity.

However, we do not see this as the reason for the woman’s anger, since she did not show signs of it to the public. Therefore, people would exclude posttraumatic stress disorder as the cause, or at least skip over the chance of it. Now let’s take a look at diabetes, since this illness affects the nerves. The shortage of insulin creates additional problems, and many people with diabetes will become upset for little or no reason at all.

However, most people do not act angrily, assault, insult or attack others . If we look at why crimes are committed, we see that very often, serious behavioural problems come from having told lies. Therefore, when we look at this woman’s situation again, we can see that we have to think about the underlying problems that is her lying and get her to move on, avoiding episodes of frustration, anxiety and anger by using some form of anger management technique.

Now, this person is in denial, which means that until the legal system makes her take steps to anger management technique, then she probably will not get seek herself. Furthermore, even if the criminal justice system does force her to get help, it probably will not work, since her denial has existed for probably many years. Now we are dealing with a real problem in anger management technique , since her behaviour is life long, which means extensive therapy will berequired.

Anger is a normal emotion, but when it interferes with someone else’s life, it becomes a serious problem. This person is not hurting only one person, she is hurting everyone, since when she steals or writes bad cheques, society pays through higher taxes, as well as other levies. One of the worst things that I have noticed with this type of person, is that the system and society allows it to continue; only addressing it when the person is in custody. Once the person is released, then it continues again. This is a chain of events involving lack of control due to anger mis-management and bad anger management technique.

If this piece anger managent technique has made you curious you and you want to read more, please go along to http://anger-management.the-real-way.com Visit the Uber Article Directory to get a totally unique version of this article for reprint.

How To Manage A Wedding Car Company

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Have you ever thought about setting up a wedding car company? Although it can be stressful, because you do not want to let anybody down on their big day, it is also fascinating and exhilarating.

Some of the benefits are that you get to own good-looking vehicles – maybe a Rolls Royce or a Bentley and they are tax-deductible; you meet new people under happy circumstances and you are in the position to help them have a perfect wedding day.

It is a very challenging business, because you always have to bear in mind the requirements of your clients and think about how you can realize and expand their’ wishes. That is hard enough, but you also have to stay competitive. I hope that the following tips will be useful.

1] Take care of the conditions under which you store your cars. If you can afford to garage them, they will not collect dust and bird droppings so the paintwork will look better for longer. Do not have a gravel drive, because of possible damage to the coachwork of the cars.

2] Get one or two really lovely cars. You will need to do a bit of research to find out what couples in your area like, but as a rule of thumb a Rolls Royce or a Bentley are sure bets. Or maybe a stretch limousine. Old vehicles go down well too. Build up your fleet of cars step by step but increasingly. Offer your clients as much choice as you can realistically afford to do.

Many wedding couples will not only require the wedding car, but also vehicles for the guests. Many of them want limousines or old cars for their wedding day. But a lot of other vehicles are required for the guests. Be flexible and agree to decorate the vehicles according to the couple’s wishes with flowers and ribbons.

2] Employ good, sympathetic personnel. A fully trained chauffeur is a necessity, but a military style chauffeur can add to your firm’s image.

3] It is a good idea to offer different packages or elements that a couple can use to build a package. So, you could offer transport from the bride’s house to the church as one element. From the church to the restaurant as another element and from there to the chosen hotel, the airport or the railway station, as another element.

4] Make sure that your clients know exactly how long they have exclusive use of the cars for. This is useful for them, so that they know precisely how long they have to take photos, eat or chat.

Transportation plays a huge and fundamental part in any wedding day celebrations. In fact, poorly timed or scruffy transportation can ruin a wedding day. If you let that happen, your firm’s standing will suffer badly, particularly in a town or village. You will need a high sense of responsibility; reliable, well-trained, sensitive staff and high quality vehicles that look the part. White wedding cars are popular, but other colours are acceptable, especially for the guests.
