Google Maps is the first place I look when seeking driving directions. It is especially helpful on long drives because Google Maps give the most up-to-date information that can be found. I have used other online services for directions, however, I always return to Google Maps.
There is very little to dislike about Google Maps. It gives more than one set of directions for each destination. That allows users to choose the type of route they would best like to take. It depends on whether I am in the mood for a longer but more scenic drive or if I am trying to get there the fastest. It is nice to have options and Google Maps provides that.
The only problem that I have with Google Maps is that there can sometimes be too much information to select from. The street view is nice because it shows the exact location of arrival so you know you are on target. There is the map view and then the direction view as well. Each one has its advantages, but it can be a little bit confusing at times.
Other map programs that give driving directions are okay, but they are not nearly as complete as Google Maps. They are not always as accurate as Google Maps either. For instance, some driving directions in other programs will send you on roads that are no longer in service. Google Maps is great at getting you around the tough areas where you may be travelling. All in all, Google Maps is, by far, the best place to get driving directions. It is clear and concise and leads you in the right direction nearly 100% of the time. My favorite thing about Google Maps is that it is very precise with the length of time it takes to get from one destination to another, making it much easier to plan a trip, no matter how far away it is.
